In the Oklahoma Capitol
Presence of Peace
Elected members of the Oklahoma legislature face unique challenges and extraordinary pressures. Regardless of political party, the most needed and meaningful help available is the power of God through prayer and the eternal truth of Scripture. During the tensest moments, Capitol Commission plays a vital role in providing a public voice for civility and prayer for Oklahoma’s elected leaders, teachers, and public services.
“Pastor Harder brings a peaceful and encouraging presence to the state capitol. I’ve witnessed the difference Capitol Commission makes in how elected leaders are being prayed for and supported.”
Rep. Josh Cockroft

Proclaiming God’s Word
Each Thursday morning, Pastor Harder delivers a devotional message on the floor of the House of Representatives. The messages in 2019 focus on the Fruit of the Spirit and the characteristics that mark a person walking with God, qualities that no law can oppose.
“The presence of pastor Joel Harder and the Capitol Commission ministry at the Oklahoma Capitol enables legislators who are pressured from many different sides to gain from God’s Word the spiritual grounding they need to be salt and light during their time of public service. I am extremely grateful for this ministry.”
Rep. Travis Dunlap

“Pastor Harder is well respected by members of both political parties as he continues to serve the Oklahoma House of Representatives as chaplain.”
Speaker Charles McCall
God cares for all people and when our leaders are better, we are all better. As Christ’s ambassadors sharing truth and grace in the State Capitol, the power of God is at work among the leaders serving communities across the state of Oklahoma. (2 Cor. 5:11-21)
“Having Dr. Harder in the hallways is an emotional and encouraging boost each day. He has the knack of taking interest in individuals in a respectful yet engaging manner. He may be the only person in the Capitol that approaches a legislator and wants nothing. And that is most uplifting.”
Senator Dave Rader
In 2019, the ministry focus will be to put families first – working with House and Senate leadership to promote healthy homes and relationships – continued pastoral care among legislators, and launching new discipleship and prayer ministries through the offices of the incoming administration and constitutional officers.
I am honored to serve as the State Minister striving to impact the capitol community of the Sooner State with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. -Joel Harder
